Here's how our interview went!
Faith shared that she loves to read and write! Some of her favorite books include comics, science and animal books, and Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling to name a few. When she's not working on her new children's book series, The Adventures of Archer the Axolotl, you can find her making origami, drawing anime, or learning French!
In our interview, I asked what inspired her to write her book, and here's what she said: "I was doing a science worksheet for school about endangered species, and I liked it so much that I even kept on doing it at home. I really liked axolotls, and I showed my parents my research. They were super impressed, and that's where it all began. They dared me to write a story about it."
While researching, Faith was specifically drawn to how cute and interesting the axolotl is! She picked this animal as her main character because they are unique, cute, and endangered.
Faith went on to explain that it took her about four months to write the story. She worked diligently with her editor, Jamie C McHugh, to add more conflict to the story until it was just right for publication. Faith said she had some say in the design and illustrations of her book, and she was happy with how her illustrator, Raven Moonfall, was able to bring her characters to life.
This story was important for Faith to tell because it discusses bullying, standing up for yourself and other's in your community, and realizing that you are unique and amazing just the way you are! This book is sure to be a hit and an encouragement to kids of all ages as they learn more about Archer and how he embraces his differences and the differences of those around him.
Faith is excited for her book's release in July, her birthday month, and can't wait to share this inspiring story with her friends, family, and teachers! Don't wait to support this child author and her dreams-- you can preorder her book today!
