Author Interview with Wrenna Stone as We Talk about Her Upcoming Debut Fantasy "Vision"

CALLING ALL DARK FANTASY READERS to check out my newest author interview featuring debut fantasy author Wrenna Stone and her upcoming release, coming out on August 15th, “Vision: The Keepers of Astraela.”

Last week, I had the privilege of sitting down with Wrenna Stone to talk about life as an indie author, her new fantasy book, her writing process, and her upcoming projects.

To learn all about it, check out our full author interview below

How her writing journey started

Based in Pennsylvania, Wrenna Stone is often inspired by the nature surrounding her small town. In our author interview, we discussed how whenever she writes, her stories often have forests, so she loves sitting outside to write these kinds of scenes.

Along with nature, Wrenna has also been inspired by fairytales ever since she started reading. When I asked her about some of her favorite stories or authors, here's what she said: "Growing up I always loved fairytales and especially fractured fairytales. So the biggest one that sticks out to me is the Sisters Grimm Series by Michael Buckley. For a middle-grade series, it was pretty dark, but it meshed so well with humor in such a good blend that now I just crave that in any media I consume.

"I'm such an avid horror fan. If you give me dark and creepy, I'm satisfied, but then you mix it with humor and I'm obsessed. Like Supernatural Once Upon a Time and definitely the chaos and potential darkness of Dungeons and Dragons campaigns and all of the witty and crazy decisions and everything that happens in that."

When Wrenna is not writing or reading, she's an avid gamer, often playing in other streamers’ games on Twitch. She even has a campaign that she plays with friends that is actually based in the world of her upcoming novel.

Since she was in middle school, she knew she wanted to be a writer. Taking her passion seriously, her parents encouraged her to submit her work to publishers and magazines. In our interview we talked about her early professional writing career and her first big break, being published in J-14 Magazine. This was only the beginning of Wrenna Stone's inspiring writing career.

About Vision: The Keepers of Astraela

Despite taking a writing break after suffering back-to-back concussions, in 2019, Wrenna recalled waking up from a dream that would inspire her debut novel, and it stuck with her so much, that during the pandemic, when she had time, she re-kindled her love for her passion, and began writing Vision.

While Vision: The Keepers of Astraela is her first self-published book, Wrenna Stone first garnered her following and readership while publishing the beginning stages and short stories for her upcoming release on Wattpad. When she released her first draft on Wattpad, she realized the story she wrote was promising after hitting 40k reads. This pushed her to seriously work on finishing up the first book in her series and gearing towards self-publishing.

In our interview, we also talked about the character art she's included in her book. She's been excited to collaborate with her cover designer Krafigs Designs, and her artist/illustrator @crowiferous on Instagram!

After relentlessly torturing her characters, as she likes to say, Wrenna Stone is releasing Vision: The Keepers of Astraela on August 15th, so don't forget to preorder it!

Here's what's it about:

HER GREATEST DREAM BECAME A WAKING NIGHTMARE

Eva has a world inside her head: the land of Astraela, where Darkness and Corrupted beasts threaten eternal doom. Vivid dreams have given her four books as an up-and-coming author, but when undead fiends appear on Earth for a killing spree, she is caught in the crossfire between fantasy and reality. These creatures shouldn't exist outside the pages of her books—and neither should Emrys, the fictional hero who slips in from the shadows to tell her Astraela is facing its ultimate destruction. With the fate of her own world at risk, and her main character's life being drained by an age-old curse, Eva must choose between stepping up to the plate or watching every reality she's ever known crumble before her eyes.

Perfect for fans of The Witcher and Once Upon a Time, Vision is a new adult fantasy novel filled with heart-pounding adventure, magic, and the power of friendship.
