Inspired to write from an early age, A. R. Kaufer explained in our interview that the first book she ever wrote was an "Interview with a Vampire" fanfiction when she was fourteen. While she jokingly wished that her very first book never see the light of day, this was the start of her writing journey that would lead to her passion for becoming an author!
Back in 2022, A. R. Kaufer started her indie author journey by publishing her YA debut novel, The Unexpected Queen. Though she had already written the entire Courtship Saga at the time, which she would later begin to publish, she was inspired to write The Unexpected Queen after her little 10 and 12-year-old cousins wanted to read some of her books. While the Courtship Saga wasn't ready for publication at the time (and was not suitable for a YA audience), she wrote a whole other fantasy standalone, and so The Unexpected Queen was born and published in the fall of '22.

A. R. Kaufer explained the inspiration behind the Courtship Saga and how it only took her six months to write the entire eight-book series!
In our interview, she explained that right before her birthday a couple of years ago, she was in a really bad space mentally. She had decided that her 40th would be her last birthday, but while she was scrolling on Pinterest, she came across a writing prompt that she would use to write her last story for her sister.
As she began to write, and more of the story kept pouring out of her, she realized that she had more words left inside her, slowly healing the parts of her that had felt so broken. Over the span of six months, her short story idea quickly turned into an eight-book saga that she would begin to publish later that year!
A. R. Kaufer's inspiring words and stories have helped countless people who were struggling mentally, just as she was when she first begin to write the Courtship Saga. Writing a relatable and very human female lead has helped many of her readers, as she receives many messages from people who have felt the impact of her creative work.
Since A. R. Kaufer has written the entire Courtship Saga, she is releasing each book every six months--the first of which, Courting Fate, was released in December of 2022.
